Kotor is the most beautiful sail-in of the Adriatic, deep in a fjord-like bay. The Old Town is a 5-minute walk from the pier. The famous climb up the walls is about 1,350 steps and has been a paid entry since March 2025.
Where Kotor lies
Where your ship docks
Kotor has one main cruise pier opposite the Sea Gate (plus a smaller berth). On busy days one ship docks and others anchor in the bay and tender to the same area.

Beware
- About 1,350 uneven stone steps with no shade.
- Very crowded when 3–4 ships are in (one day saw about 5,000 cruise visitors).
- Traffic jams on the bay road.
- Tender waits if anchored.
Do this
- Bring water; there is little sold on the climb.
- Wear real walking shoes.
- Check the port's cruise calendar for how many ships are in.
