The short answer

Le Havre is NOT Paris. The terminal is 2.5 km from the train station, and Paris is roughly 2+ hours each way by train, so a Paris day is long and risky on your own. Honfleur, Étretat or Rouen are calmer choices.

Your day, hour by hour

Planned for a typical call. Check your ship's all-aboard time and be back an hour early. The ship will not wait.

  1. Easiest: shuttle to town, then bus/transfer to Honfleur or Étretat; back 60 minutes early.
  2. Paris DIY only with a 12+ hour call: early shuttle, early train, 4-5 hours in Paris, train back arriving 2 hours before all-aboard.
Wise counsel

What goes wrong, and how to avoid it

Beware

  • Long Paris transfer.
  • Possible rail strikes.
  • Sunday: fewer trains and some shops closed (unverified).

Do this

  • For D-Day sites, a ship or private tour is far easier than DIY.
  • Shore power work is under way at the cruise quays (HAROPA).
